The Great Exchange

When someone becomes a Christian he becomes a brand new person inside. He is not the same any more. A new life has begun!..For God was in Christ, restoring the world to himself, no longer counting men’s sins against them but blotting them out…For God took the sinless Christ and poured into him our sins. Then, in exchange, he poured God’s goodness into us!”

2 Corinthians 5:21 (TLB)

A minister speaking to a student body in a large auditorium asked a series of questions.

Would you put your hands up if you think that in Gods sight you are every bit as righteous as I am? Everyone put up their hands.

He then asked, put your hands up if you think that in Gods sight you are every bit as righteous as the evangelist Billy Graham? About two thirds of the students put their hands up.

Then he asked put your hands up if you think that in Gods sight you are every bit as righteous as the apostle Paul? About one third put their hands up.

Then he said this is the hard one, put your hands up if you think that in God’s sight you are “every bit as righteous as Jesus Christ”? Three people put their hands up while the rest looked as if they expected them to be struck down by lightning.

This is the most amazing story ever told. Christ took our sins and exchanged them for his righteousness. So, no matter what we have done, when the Father looks at us he doesn’t see our sins, rather he sees the righteousness of our saviour, Jesus Christ.

Prayer
Dear Father, may we never forget the reality of this scripture and help us to convey this reality to all we come in contact with.

Amen
