Where Would We Be Without Dad And Mum?

“A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son grief to his mother.”
Proverbs 10:1

Where would we be without Dad and Mum? The answer is surprisingly simple… we would be literally nowhere!

We would not exist!

Now parents come in many “shapes and sizes”. Some may be wonderful examples of all that mum and dad should be. But chances are, being human, they will have some failings.

However, good or bad, all parents have one thing in common … they played a part in bringing you and me into existence.

And because we exist, and because of the Father’s plan, we have an opportunity to live on into eternity!

In Ephesians 6:1-3 (NIV) Paul explains that honouring our parents is for our benefit … and it comes with a promise … “that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth”

Is it possible that this promise is bigger than we thought?

The very first authority in our life comes from our parents or guardians. Through the family relationship we can learn respect for authority.

Ultimately this will make it a whole lot easier for us to have proper honour and respect for the Supreme Authority, our Heavenly Father.

He alone can give us “long life” on another level.

Life so long … it never ends!

Prayer
Heavenly Father, we want to thank you for our physical parents who cared for us on your behalf. By honouring them, we honour you and give you the glory, as our Heavenly Father who brings us Eternal Life through a spiritual rebirth.
