Much To Ponder

“And when they had come to a place called Calvary, there they crucified Him..”
Luke 23:33 NKJ

During a recent bout of ill health, I thought how can I possibly pray in this state?

Eventually the thought penetrated my thick skull that Our Lord and Saviour Christ Jesus ,the ultimate Blood Donor, gave the example when paying the penalty for our sins on the cross.

Psalm 22:14-17 gives us a graphic description of his gruesome physical state:   “I am poured out like water, and all My bones are out of joint; my heart is like wax; it is melted within Me. My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue clings to My jaws; You have brought Me to the dust of death. For dogs have surrounded Me; the congregation of the wicked has enclosed Me. They pierced My hands and My feet. I can count all My bones. They look and stare at Me.”

Jesus, even in this deadly agony, managed to pray for humankind that put Him to death.

“Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do….” (Luke 23:34).

Prayer
Father in heaven, help us always to remember what Christ Jesus has suffered in our stead, thereby giving us constant access to You in prayer. Thank you because in Your faithfulness you raised Him from the dead to be Our Living High Priest and Intercessor. Because He lives, we shall live. Help us to surrender to You and to allow Jesus to live in us, to be seen and heard in us. In Jesus’s name we pray.
Amen
