For The Lord Gives Wisdom

“For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding”
Proverbs 2:6 (NKJV)

How often we face a difficult decision and we just don’t know what to do.  We struggle with the circumstances that surround us and wonder what is the right course of action.

Our problem is that we are not prepared and the situation has taken us by surprise.  But God shows us how we can be prepared, ready to face all the ups and downs of life.

Jesus said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4 ). God’s word, the Holy Bible, is the key that unlocks the meaning and purpose of life and the way to live this life as God intended.

But in order for this to work, we have to study the bible.  Paul wrote to his young friend and fellow minister, Timothy, with some sage advice:  “Be diligent (‘study,’ AV) to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15).  He goes on to write, “…and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation” (2 Timothy 3:15).

The study of the Word of God is the means of dealing with the vagaries of life.  As we study the Bible we learn more and more how God would have us face the good, the bad and the ugly things of this life.  We will be prepared in advance, and much of the doubt and despair of our decision making will be replaced by confidence, knowing that we have the wisdom of God guiding our actions.

Our Father in heaven,Please open my mind and my heart to your word.  Let it be my guiding light, illuminating the path that I should walk, knowing that your wisdom is revealed in your holy Scriptures.
