Like A Bee
“…you shall be my witnesses.”
Acts 1:8 (KJV)
Every morning bees leave their hive intent on making honey. They are totally focused on their task and may sting anyone who gets in the way. But making honey is not their higher purpose. Their greater purpose is spreading pollen from flower to flower. If they did not, everything would eventually die. They do so without conscious thought or effort, because it is a result of the way they go about their daily routine.
Just so, when we go about our daily tasks of work, and even in our recreation, consider that these are not the eternal purpose of mankind. We are unconsciously, by our words and actions, spreading the ‘pollen’ of Christianity–the good news that although we have to eat (honey), without Christ everyone will eventually die! Read again the well-known scripture John 3:16, ” For God so loved the world that he sent his only begotten son, that whosoever believes on Him should not die, but have everlasting life.”
Prayer
Help us in our daily lives, Father in Heaven, to remember that whatever we do or say should be a witness of the wonderful good news–that making money, providing daily bread and having fun are not the real point of life, and that through your Son we can have eternal life.
Amen
