They Don’t Know What They’re Doing

“Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.'”
Luke 23:34 (NLT)

Whenever I hear or see things that I do not like or know are bad, this verse comes straight to my mind. This happens often in daily life, whether at work, out and about or on the television. Sometimes I cannot believe what my ears hear–you do wonder, just wonder at the evil in the world today. We cannot close our eyes and ears, but we do not want to be influenced by these things either.

It is so easy to judge hastily, yet we are told to judge righteous judgment. John 7:24 (KJV), says not to judge by appearance but to judge righteous judgment; or as in the New Living Translation, “Look beneath the surface so you can judge correctly.”

We make that judgment based on scripture when we see or hear evil, but still we need to look at Christ’s example and realize that they do not know what they are doing. Perhaps by our example we can be the beacon to lead people to Christianity.

‘For they do not know’ are just a few compelling words from Jesus to help us in our day.

Prayer
Father Thank you for who you are, and with your word we are to be encouraged that bad things go in one ear and out the other. We know your word is true, so please bless us in our work places as we live by your word in this world today.
Amen
