The Beautiful Life

“Give unto the LORD the glory due to His name; Worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.”

Psalm 29:2 NKJ

Do you lead a beautiful life?

The writer Alan Kreider noted a story about Christians around 150 AD. Their claim was: “Beauty of life causes strangers to join our ranks…we do not talk about great things: we live them”[1].

The idea is that onlookers see a difference in Christians and that the difference is beautiful to behold. A Christian friend remarked to me the other day how she had been given too much change, and that she returned it to the shop assistant. The assistant was astonished, and thanked the Christian profusely. Simple actions show what we believe.

The above passage tells us to “worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness”. Holiness is about being set apart, about leading a life that exemplifies following Jesus Christ, and it is a beautiful life.

Don’t just talk about great things: live them!

Prayer

Help me, Father, to reflect on the beauty of holiness and to live a life that returns all the glory to you.

Amen
