God’s Perfect Cake

Ingredients: Add equally large amounts of:

1.  FAITH: God gives us his gift of faith and understanding. Romans 1:17 (NIV)—”For in it, the Righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith.”

2.  TRUST: Completely trust in the Lord that whatever he begins to work on will turn out perfectly. Philippians 1:6—”He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

3.  PATIENCE: God’s patience knows no boundary. He helps us to grow in patience through the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:5—”Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus.”

4.  COMPASSION: He shows compassion and mercy to us when we are struggling with, or frustrated by, life and whilst we continue to sin. Psalm 78:38—”But He, being full of compassion forgave their iniquity.”

5.  COMFORT: God’s comfort gives us strength to live this life to the full for His purpose, as he gently guides us along the path of righteousness. Psalm 23:4—”Yea, though I walk through the valley of The Shadow of Death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me: Your rod and your staff they comfort me.”

6.  PEACE: God has given us a life filled with peace, free from burdens, if only we will turn to him and ask for his help through his Son, Jesus Christ. Romans 5:1—”Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

7.  HOPE: We have hope in and through Jesus because of his sacrifice for us. God has given us a glorious, joyful gift of everlasting life. Titus 1:2—”In hope of Eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began.”

8.  LOVE: God’s love is very special, it is unconditional and in turn he asks us to show his love to one another, to our brethren at Church, to our families, to people everywhere; he wants us to become like Christ so that we can show Jesus to everyone we meet. 1 Timothy 1:5—”Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience and from sincere faith.”

9.  GRACE: God’s grace encompasses every ingredient in this cake. It is large amounts of everything I have just written about. God simply is Grace. John 1:17—”For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.”

Prayer

Dear Lord, We realise there is no cooking time for this cake, because You set no limit on time. But when I eat of your cake, I feel my hunger satisfied, although there is always room for more… because this cake is made to perfection, not by me, but by Your Perfect Love. Thank you Lord!

Amen
