Heavenly Treasure
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Matthew 6:21 (NKJV)
When I first met my husband I used to tease him and say, “You’re a little treasure that I’ve taken off the shelf, dusted down and kept for myself.” We still laugh about this today, nearly twenty-three years later!
I believe that this is what God did with me when he opened my eyes, heart and mind, and called me to himself. He picked me gently up from the floor, dusted me down with his Grace and Mercy, and showed me all of his love at a time in my life when I needed him so very much. He led me gently along the path of righteousness and showed me how with Him in my life I could have things I had never experienced before: Peace, comfort, not to fear any more; and most of all, his unchanging love–a love that only our Father in Heaven can give and will never take away from us. 1 John 4 vs.18 tells us, “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear.” (1 John 4:19). We love Him because He first loved us.
Our relationships with God are very individual and very unique; he treats each one of us as though we were his only child. He always has time for us, He is patient and full of kindness, He is forgiving, and there is no-one else like Him. He is our everything. John 14:6 assures us, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.”
When we experience this wonderful relationship with God–that is, when we can really say that we have found a treasure not to let go of–we must not let go. As it says in Psalm 119:162, “I rejoice at Your word as one who finds great treasure.”
Prayer
Our loving Father in Heaven, thank you for being there for me, not just in times of great need, but for always. You are my strength, my life, and without you I am nothing. Please help me through the Holy Spirit to always look to you for guidance in everything I do and to always give thanks for my Salvation through Your Glorious Son, Jesus Christ.
Amen
