Style
“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance of us to do.”
Ephesians 2:10 (NIV UK)
Style is something we all have.
Often we can recognise an artist by his or her style. For example, a Rembrandt or a Picasso is identifiable by the way in which the painter uses colour, light, shape, etc. Also, Shakespeare, Dickens and other writers have distinct writing styles.
Paul described believers as the workmanship of Jesus Christ. He explained that Christians are crafted by Christ to produce good works.
This idea must raise the question: do family members, friends, colleagues or strangers recognise the workmanship of Christ when they observe us? Although each of us is unique, just like the different works of an artist are unique, is there some notable style that connects all of us as being Christ’s spiritual works of art?
Hopefully, when people meet us, they encounter individuals who share “the same love, being of one accord, of one mind”, which is the mind of Jesus Christ (Philippians 2:2).
Let others see the style of Jesus in the way in which you lead your life.
Prayer
Our Father, help me to be identifiable as yours, and let the style of your son, Jesus, come through in all that I do and say.
Amen
