A Most Excellent Gift
“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 2:5 (NKJV)
The giving and receiving of gifts is associated with the celebration of Christmas. But when Christmas is over, some gifts prove to be useful and others are useless. In reality, we have all been given a most excellent gift.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). God has given you His Son. His desire and will for you is that you also receive the mind or attitude of Jesus, as in the scripture above: “let this mind be in you”. You can have the mind or attitude of Christ–all that you need to do is just ask God in believing prayer. “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us – whatever we ask- we know that we have what we asked of him” (1 John 5:14-15 NIV).
It is clearly God’s will for you to receive the mind or attitude of Jesus Christ. Only then will you be able to relate to Him and know how to relate to others. Jesus Himself instructs us that ‘apart from me you can do nothing’ (John 15:5).
Prayer
Dear Father in heaven, please grant to me the mind or attitude of Jesus Christ who is my Lord and Saviour.
Amen
