Sharing
“But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?”
1 John 3:17 (NKJV)
Although this scripture is speaking of physical things, it could just as well apply to spiritual things. Although writing a Day by Day article is one way that we can share spiritual understanding with others, there is another way. We find in 1 Corinthians 14:26 (NLT), “Well, my brothers and sisters, let’s summarize. When you meet together, one will sing, another will teach, another will tell some special revelation God has given, one will speak in tongues, and another will interpret what is said. But everything that is done must strengthen all of you.” This scripture is about brethren meeting together and building one another up by sharing spiritual things with one another.
Hebrews 10:25 (NLT) also exhorts us, “And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” If we do not meet together how can we share spiritual things with one another, and how can we encourage one another unless we speak to one another about spiritual things?
As the Apostle Paul said in Romans 1:10 (NLT), “One of the things I always pray for is the opportunity, God willing, to come at last to see you. For I long to visit you so I can bring you some spiritual gift that will help you grow strong in the Lord. When we get together, I want to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours.”
Prayer
Thank you Father for all the spiritual understanding you give us through the Holy Spirit, and thank you for the opportunities we have to share that understanding with others.
Amen
