God Is A Growing Family!

“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”

John 1:12-13 (KJV)

 Have you ever been challenged to sum up ‘gospel’, that is, the good news of Jesus Christ, in one sentence, but not to a fellow Christian, rather to someone who’s never possibly opened the Bible or set foot inside a church? After all, this does tend to be the majority of people with whom we interact today. Quite recently as a group we were asked that very question, and we gave similar answers in different ways. The most succinct down to earth answer that touched me in particular was from someone who said: “God is extending his family and you’re invited…Do you want to join?” 

Admittedly somewhat vernacular, but I think it makes the point. 

Jesus Christ is the firstborn of many to come (Romans 8:29), and Galatians 3:26 says, “ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus”. Hebrews 2:10 mentions “bringing many sons to glory”, and not forgetting John 3:16, “for God so loved the world”. 

Every single human being has the potential to be part of God’s family. Satan ‘blew it’. No wonder he interferes with that message getting out! 

Prayer

Father, thank you that you have revealed your purpose and plan to us today. I pray that the Holy Spirit would lead us to reach everybody you are calling at this time with this Good News in a way or manner that their minds can acknowledge.
