Be Holy For I Am Holy
“Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.”
1 Peter 1:16 (KJV)
Does this mean that we have to live a perfect life before God can look on us as Holy?
If that were true God would not be able to do this, for we all fall short. Before God can look on us as Holy we must be washed clean by the blood of Jesus Christ. HE paid the price for our sins. We then receive the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38). God then starts to renew our minds.
Philippians 2:5 says, “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.” We then need to ask ourselves: are my thoughts, words and actions pleasing to Jesus and the Holy Spirit?
Daily prayer, meditation and study of the Holy Bible are very important, they show us what is pleasing to God. They are the way that we draw close to God.
When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, God looks on us as holy, because the price of our sin has been paid for by the blood of Jesus. As God renews our minds by The Holy Spirit we begin to think as he thinks and to love as He loves.
We are the clay and He is the potter as it says in Isaiah 64:8, “But now O Lord, You are our Father. We are the clay, and you are our potter and we are all the work of your hand.”
In Philippians 1:6 we read “being confident of this very thing that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.” When God starts a work in us He will complete it. We can have complete confidence in Him. Praise the Lord.
Father God, you are the potter and we are the clay. Please mould us by your hands into the holy vessels that you would have us be.
