You’re Included

“And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit.”
Ephesians 1:13 (NIV)

This scripture says you are included in Christ. You may ask or wonder, in what manner have I been included?

You have been included in the life and activities of the triune God—Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Because of the life, death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ, God has included all of humanity in His triune life.

This inclusion never depended on us, on what we do or don’t do. It solely depended on Him and what He accomplished on our behalf. He is the vicarious man, representing humanity in the presence of the Father. What happens to Him happens to us. Where He is, we are. “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where Jesus, who went before us, has entered on our behalf.” (Hebrews 6:19-20).

He is our life; we have no other life apart from Him (Colossians 3:4; John 15:5). As it says in Acts 17:28, “‘For in Him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are His offspring.’”

This is ‘good news’ for everyone, because all that is required for salvation, to participate in the amazing life and activities of the triune God, is trust and belief in Jesus.

Father God, thank You for including me in Your triune life. Help me to accept that apart from Jesus, I cannot do anything, but in and through Him I can do all things.
