The Name Above All Names
“Therefore God has highly exalted and given Him the name which is above every name, and at the name of Jesus every knee should bow….”
Philippians 2:9-10 (NKJV)
There is unbelievable power in the name of Jesus! His name is higher than any other name; it is mightier than any other name; and it is the only name that will ultimately command obedience from all people and all principalities. It says in Acts 4:12, “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
What does it mean for His name to be above every name? It means Jesus is vested with the power of the Godhead; indeed He is God. This why we are told, “He who is with us is greater than he who is with them.” (1Corinthians 15:57)
We do not have to be defeated by anything that comes our way as long as we turn to Jesus in our hour of need. With Him we have the victory. (1John 4:4) We all need to keep this in mind when we pray. Throughout the day, when we feel weary, we need to stop for a moment and simply recall that Jesus has already given us victory.
This is a privilege that comes from our relationship with Him. As we grow in intimacy with Him, and experience the encouragement He grants us, He will become more and more precious to us.
When we turn to Jesus we need not fear what may happen in the future for Jesus is above everything. He will ultimately give us the victory when we put our trust in Him!
Prayer
Father God, thank you for the help that is available to us when we call on Jesus in our time of need.
