Loving God, Loving Each Other
“For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead.”
James 2:26 (NKJV)
We, as Christians, should be developing Godly character in our lives. Godly character is saying ‘Yes’ to what is right and ‘No’ to what is wrong. It has an effect on everything that we think, say and do.
Jesus tells us that we should live by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God (The Holy Bible is His ‘Word’). In Matthew 4:4 Jesus answered Satan’s temptation by saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”
The Holy Spirit opens our minds to understand the will of God and gives us the ability to do the will of God! Jesus said, “the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name…will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.” Philippians 2 tells us that “God works in you both to will and to do His good pleasure.”
It is good to tell people to love each other, but it will have little effect on them unless they see us manifesting love in our lives in the way that we reach out and serve others who are in need! 1 Timothy 4:12 exhorts, “be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”
When we choose to REJECT what is wrong and DO what is right we are developing Godly character in our lives and are becoming more like Jesus through the Power of the Holy Spirit!
Father in Heaven, help us to reject what is wrong and do what is pleasing to you through the power of the Holy Spirit.
