Each Day With Love
“And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever”
John 14:16 (NKJV)
As a school teacher six weeks of summer holiday was bliss. Most of all I loved the time I got to spend with my two beautiful daughters. I feel quite sad at the thought of not seeing them all day on my return to work. I know that as the year ramps up I will get to see less and less of them and already I am starting to feel wistful thinking of the time we had together. We don’t like being apart from those we love; to disconnect from the joy.
There is no greater love than that of the father for his son, Jesus (John 3:35 ‘The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into His hand”) and that of Jesus for his father (John 14:31 “But that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father gave Me commandment, so I do”).
On that very commandment, and because of his love for us (John 15:9), Jesus died for us. He bridged the gap so that always, through him, we may come to the father (14:6). In the absence of seeing a loved one we may struggle and feel a sense of loss at the separation, but the father has sent us the Holy Spirit so that we may always know that he is there.
In John 14:26 Jesus says, “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.”
Prayer
Dear Lord, Thank you for this new academic year. Thank you that you have sent your spirit to guide and comfort us. Thank you that from your love, the greatest love of all, we never have to feel a separation. We praise your name for this. In Jesus Christ.
Amen
