Wars And Rumours Of Wars 

“And you will hear of wars and rumours of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.”
Matthew 24:6-7 (NKJV) 

Just recently the world observed the centenary of World War 1. They remembered millions who died during the war which also devastated many cities. But the war to end all wars did not stop the Second World War, in which million upon millions lost their lives and there was destruction of many cities of the world. Has mankind learnt the lesson? From what we see happening in the world today, it is obvious they are again going the same way—the path of war. Are we surprised at the present condition of wars and violence and killing and destructions taking place almost in every corner of the earth? 

Furthermore we see the horrendous situation of refugees , displaced people in millions from their own homes, and starvation and diseases taking toll of many lives and there is no end in sight. We are living in perilous times. Even the political leaders are echoing that we are living in a dangerous world. The western nations are trying to stop the rampaging carnage carried out by terrorist groups committing genocide. I hope they succeed. 

However, peace is coming but not the way world is trying to achieve it. For Christians know the only way to peace is Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace. And He is coming to usher in the peace the world desperately needs. Then there will be no more wars ,no more tears. Isaiah 2:4 says, “He shall judge between the nations, and shall rebuke many people; they shall beat their swords into ploughshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.” 

Prayer
Father in heaven, please send our Saviour to bring lasting peace on this troubled planet. That is my earnest request asking in the name of your Son.
