New Game Show

“Then he told them, ‘That is why every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom from heaven is like the master of a household who brings both new and old things out of his treasure chest.’”

I’ve thought up an idea for a new game show. (If any TV producer reading this likes it, feel free to contact me with regard to negotiating a price for it!)

The idea is this. A whole range of antique items, having varying values are on a table. The value of each is written on a price tag but attached to the wrong item. Contestants are given a set amount of time to put them into the correct price order without removing the tags. Then, before the true values are revealed, an antiques expert is brought in and given the chance to do better. (The contestant who gets the most correct takes home the object they placed as of most value.)

It would be interesting as some people can’t see past the labelling, they value things differently and even so-called experts can be deceived by the labelling and appearance of items.

Speaking of Satan, Jesus said, “He was a murderer from the beginning and has never stood by  the truth, since there is no truth in him. Whenever he tells a lie he speaks in character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” (John 8:44). And in this life, it is as if Satan has mixed up all the price tags to deceive us into yearning for that which is of little value and to miss that which is of the greatest.

For instance, many have fallen for Satan’s deception that things such as looks, fame and fortune are of great value. Do we over-value things? Satan knows that Jesus is of the greatest value, hence he did his best to derail Him and when he failed, he tried to destroy Him by killing Him. Although, when Jesus rose from the dead and he’d (Satan) failed to win, he has continued to deceive many about Christ’s true value.

What about us? Do we under-value the treasures of Heaven, both old and new? The whole Bible is full of treasures to marvel at and to indulge in.

Thank you, Father, for the precious things in our lives, our families, our friends, and especially for You, for Jesus and all You have done for us, both for this life and the next. Thank You.
