Soul-ar Power by the Son

“…he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.”
Titus 3:5 (NIV)

The salesman droned on and on.  My husband and I exchanged glances, we had been told it would be a visit based on energy saving and would give us some guidelines to saving power.  Naïvely we invited him into our home only to discover he was a salesman for solar power cells.  Although the product seemed worthwhile we were not prepared to purchase it and gave him the bad news.

There are many alternative energy solutions but Solar power is the most commonly known.  The power of the sun is staggering and essential to our existence. The fusion of hydrogen into helium is the source of the sun’s boundless energy. Scientists claim that 100,000,000,000 tons of dynamite would have to be detonated every single second to match the energy that the sun produces.  Even so, the sun will die eventually, scientists believe approximately five billion years from now.  Solar power will be extinguished one day.

These statistics caused me to consider the vulnerability of our habitat and how much we need to harness a wellspring of power—a source of power that will never fail, is constant and without end, that although priceless is free, is pure and enervating.  This is the supreme power of our great God.

Jesus Christ created the universe, that is, a universe which man has not yet comprehended in its entirety. Jesus challenged Job, “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand.” (Job 38:4).  From the creation of the molecule to the largest planet Jesus was there at its beginning, designing and formulating.

The Father, Son and the Holy Spirit have given us an amazing world, a world full of beauty and wonder and we were even given an instruction manual to cherish the earth (The Bible).  Stubbornly, we rejected tutelage and began the destruction of our planet and of ourselves.  Through sin we put our souls in jeopardy – but God is merciful.

Jesus Christ the Creator will return and rescue us.  His power will give light and freedom to a dark and sin-enslaved world. Humanity will be given a second chance by the divine grace of God. “He who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making everything new!’ Then he said, ‘Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.’” (Revelation 21:5)

By this same grace, this newness has already come to those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here.” (2 Corinthians 5:17). His power is manifest in our lives; let’s use it to tell others of this wonderful hope.

Prayer
Thank you so much, loving Father, for the mighty power of your Holy Spirit.  We are nothing without you and your love – your divine power sustains us.
Amen
