On Wings Of Faith
“Jesus said to him, ‘Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are the people who have not seen and yet have believed.’”
John 20:29 (NET)
Watching an Airbus A380, the world’s largest passenger airliner, take off is amazing—how can all those tons of metal, luggage and passengers fly up into the sky? The plane seems to float so slowly, surely it should fall to the ground, pulled by the force of gravity?
You can’t see the air lifting the wings, or the laws of aerodynamics that cause it to rise, but we have the assurances of the pilot, the airlines and the confidence borne of the many past flights. You might say it takes a great deal of faith to believe that when you board an aircraft it will take off, fly, and land safely at its destination.
So it is with salvation—you can’t see God’s Spirit that guides us, protects us and lifts us up, away from the pull of evil, taking us safely to our destination of immortality. We have the assurance of God’s Word, our pilot Jesus, and the recorded historical records of faith in Hebrews 11 to give us the confidence in our journey in Christ Jesus, who brings us safely to our salvation destiny of Eternal Life.
Prayer
As we can put our faith in the unseen laws of aerodynamics, Father in Heaven, help us to put our faith in your promise of salvation through Jesus Christ.
Amen
