Let God Promote You

“Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, ‘Since God has shown you all this, there is no one so discerning and wise as you.  You shall be in charge of my palace, and all my people are to submit to your orders.  Only with respect to the throne will I be greater than you..’”
Genesis 41:39-40 (NIV)

If we have been in a business environment for long we may have picked up a ‘keep my ideas to myself’ attitude.  We can get scared that others will take our ideas and claim them for their own.  Unfortunately this can mean that your workplace is starved of ideas that God wanted them to have.

I think that God wants us to see Him as our source and realize that He will look after us and He will promote us.  James 1:17 says, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father…”

When we look at the life of Joseph, we see how he used the gifts God gave him to help others regardless of what might be the outcome.  But God had His outcome in mind, and when the time was right to vindicate Joseph, God elevated him to be second in the country.

So don’t worry—put your ideas out there and let God promote you!

Prayer
Father, help us to remember that all good things, including our best ideas, come from you; and that you give them to us for the benefit of all.  Help us to realize that we have you as our source and that you promote us in due (perfect) time.
