Waiting

“He came from the Judean town of Arimathea, and he himself was waiting for the kingdom of God.”
Luke 23:51 (NIV)

I was standing outside a farmer’s stall when the owner asked me, “Can I help you, sir?” “No, thanks” I replied, “I’m just waiting for my wife”. “Story of my life!”, I quipped. “Let me tell you”, he said, “she is well worth waiting for. I had two, and they are both dead. Don’t ever tire of waiting for her”. I guess that told me!

We all need to wait for one another. Wives, husbands, children, whatever situation we are in. In our urgent society where we feel the pressure of time more than ever before, we need patience. The Bible tells us we should be patient just like a farmer who waits for the harvest to come. We wait for God, and we wait for one another.

God also waits for us, giving us time to turn to him. “Bear in mind”, it says in 2 Peter 3:15 (NIV), “that our Lord’s patience means salvation”.

Wait for one another.

Prayer
Father in Heaven, forgive our impatience and help us to wait for one another as You wait for us to give us Your salvation.
Amen
