Long Lost Families
“God places the lonely in families.”
Psalm 68:6 (NLT)
Have you seen any of the popular television series about Long Lost Families? The programmes include highly emotional and heart-rending accounts of young women who were forced by their parents to give up their new-born babies for adoption. Some forty to fifty years later they nervously meet up with their children in a chosen location, and heartfelt tears of joy and gratitude flow freely. Mothers hug and kiss them after what seems like an eternity of waiting.
In a Spiritual sense our Creator and loving heavenly Father, longs to welcome you into his family as his child, and there will be great joy in heaven when you accept his caring embrace, as with the parable of the Prodigal Son. Hebrews 2:11 (NIV) tells us, “Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters.”
Jesus reassures his disciples before his death, that there is a place in his Father’s home for everyone (John 14:1-3). Unlike some human fathers, God will never leave you but will continue to love you as his precious child—from now on and into eternity.
Thank you, Father, that there is room for everyone in your family. We are your children and give you thanks through our elder brother, Jesus Christ.
