Do You Have a Log in Your Eye?

“Why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye but don’t notice the log in your own eye?”
Matthew 7:3 (HCSB)

It’s a characteristic of the human race to condemn others. We find this so easy to do, but Christ warns against it, as none of us are any better than any others.  Christ also tells us that all have sinned, so we are in no position to condemn others.

We learn from our mistakes.  It is through our mistakes that we grow into a better relationship with Christ and with others.

We all need forgiveness and the instruction is clear from the Lord’s Prayer which says, forgive us our sins as we forgive others their sins against us.  If we are to be forgiven, we need to forgive others.

We need to recognize our need for forgiveness.

Prayer
Great God, grant us the spiritual sight we need to see our own sins before we see the sins of others.
Amen
