Forgiveness And Love
“…clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.”
Colossians 3:12-14 (NLT)
These verses have great meaning for me because they are part of a reading that I was asked to do at my niece’s wedding. What wonderful words of wisdom to the young couple committing their lives to each other before God and before their families and friends.
I wonder how much of the reading they actually heard on such an emotionally charged day and did the rest of the congregation hear and understand? However, I often turn to the passage, re-read those words of wisdom and keep trying!
Prayer
Father, thank you so much for loving us and forgiving us. Please give us the strength to forgive and love when it is just too hard or painful.
Amen
