Finding the Father’s Love

“My heart beats for you, and my love for you stirs up my pity. I won’t punish you in my anger and I won’t destroy Israel again. I am God and not a human; I am the Holy One, and I am among you.”
Hosea 11:8-9 (NCV)

Human parents will go to any lengths to provide for, to rescue, and to nurture their children! No effort is too great or demanding—in other words, whatever it takes; and you know what, our heavenly Father is no different.

Remember this; God’s greatest creation is not the starry heavens or the far flung galaxies or even the spectacular beauty of this amazing blue planet that we live on. The endless universe knows no greater passion than God’s personal passion for you and your relationship with him. Listen to him as he tells us passionately about his great love and overwhelming concern for us. He says, “Don’t be afraid because I have saved you. I have called you by name and you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you. When you cross rivers, you will not drown. When you walk through fire, you will not be burned, nor will the flames hurt you. This is because I, the Lord, am your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour” (Isaiah 43:1-3).

Once again, this is what the Lord God says: “I myself, will search for my sheep and take care of them. As a shepherd takes care of his scattered flock when it is found, I will take care of my sheep…I will feed my flock and lead them to rest, says the Lord God. I will search for the lost, bring back those that strayed away, put bandages on those that were hurt, and make the weak strong” (Ezekiel 34:11-12, 15-16).

Remember, God has a great heart of love for all people and he makes it very easy for everyone to access his amazing passion for us because he is as near to us on a Monday as he is on a Sunday; he comes to the place where we live, and steps up to the door and knocks—waiting admittance! (Revelation 3:20).

In his prayer for the disciples just before his death, Jesus said to his Father, “Then the world will know that you sent me and that you loved them just as much as you loved me” (John 17:23 italics mine).

Our Father has involved himself in our world; through his Son Jesus he has taken away everything in the past that has separated us from him and his love. Finding that precious love today is so simple—it is just a breath, a whisper away, and he is still waiting! Take courage and open the door!

Thank you, great Father, for your steadfast love for all mankind and that you have made yourself available to us through your Son Jesus, so that everyone who has a desire to meet with you can easily do so.
