God Had Other Plans…

“…now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do …”
Genesis 11:6 (KJV)

We read in the scripture above that whatever they could dream up they would be able to do.  Look at what men imagine and do today with horrific weapons and evil continually.  To stop this God confused their tongues, and the tower of Babel, which was to reach up to heaven after Noah’s flood, could not be built. The creator of humanity knew what the combined abilities of the human mind and the spirit in man were capable of.

For thousands of years, muscle power, human and animal, wind and water set the limits of human ability. Historically, we know that mechanical knowledge was used to make cranes for lifting big stones and to design giant catapults to destroy city walls, and to build high towers too.

The breakthrough inventions and discoveries by individuals in the last five centuries including the microscope, harnessing the power of steam and electricity, became a basis for the use of radio, telephone, television, atom splitting, nuclear power, radar and rocket propulsion to the moon and outer space. In the medical sphere, among all that, the use of X-rays, chloroform and keyhole surgery have led to artificial limbs, heart and lung transplants, and severed hands being replaced.

Now a doctor in Italy, Dr Canavero, is planning to do a head transplant – YES, a HEAD transplant, using a team of 150 doctors and nurses. He has designed the technique costing £7.5 million. His first volunteer is Valery Spiridonov, a man with a fatal muscle wasting disorder called Werdnig-Hoffman disease. He is a computer scientist from Russia. Will it succeed? The brave volunteer takes this view: “I don’t have many choices. If I don’t try this chance, my fate will be very sad.”

God has better news. One day, there will be a new body.  Ezekiel 37:13–14 NKJV says, “Then you shall know that I am the Lord, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up from your graves. I will put My Spirit in you, and you shall live…” I Corinthians 15:52 (NKJV): “In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.” That’s an offer that nobody should refuse!

Prayer
Father, thank you for your great plan to resurrect the dead. Help us to know how to encourage others who need hope at this time.
Amen
