Controlling Our Minds

“For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the spirit, the thing of the spirit.”
Romans 8:5 (NKJV)

If we are walking in the flesh, it is because we have put our minds on fleshly things. If we are walking in the Spirit, it is because we have put our minds on spiritual things.

Our minds are moulds: how we think is how we will become.

Imagine a truck filled with concrete. The concrete is eventually going to take the shape of whatever mould it’s poured into—a driveway, a road or a foundation. The concrete cannot take any form unless a mould is created.

Our thoughts are like the mould. Our thoughts create a shape for God to pour His Spirit into us.  2 Timothy 2:21 says “…if anyone cleanses himself …he will be a vessel for honour, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.”

If we want to live a life filled with God’s Spirit and power we need to keep our minds on the things that agree with God’s will so that He can begin to mould us into the image of Jesus Christ.

Prayer
Father God, please  help us to control our minds through the power of the Holy Spirit.
