A Time To Be Happy

“A merry heart does good, like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones.”
Proverbs 17:22 (NKJV)

What are the keys that open the doors to real happiness?

Most people want to be happy and they seek ways that they think will bring them happiness. Some think that if they had plenty of money, and the things that money could buy, they would be happy. Some single men and some single women think that if they could find a wife or a husband they would be happy.

All these things can give us happiness if we use them to serve and help others in order to make them happy! This is one of the keys to happiness—when we make a decision that we are going to do all that we can to serve others we will find that our happiness will increase. Serving others is one of the main keys to happiness! Jesus Christ did not come to be served, He came to serve others as it says in Matthew 20:28, “Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give His life a ransom for many.” We as Christians are to follow His example

Another key to happiness is to be thankful for all the blessings that God and other people give us every day. It is very important that we thank God every morning for a new day and ask Him to help us to live a life that gives glory to Him! And that we also thank other people when they do things for us.

Another major key to happiness is to always be willing to forgive others and refuse to take offence when they offend us or do us wrong. God always forgives us when we do wrong and He expects us to forgive others. The familiar ‘Lord’s Prayer’ (Matthew 6:12) says, “And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.” Being merciful, loving, forgiving and willing to serve others are major keys that will open the door to real happiness!!

The most important key to real happiness is to know that the price of all our sins past, present and future has been paid in full by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We can rejoice in the knowledge that God now looks on us as righteous and that we now have the gift of eternal life.

Prayer
Father, fill us with the joy that comes from knowing you and gives us happiness through serving, being thankful and forgiving other.
Amen
