The Return Of The ‘Lost’

“‘However, The days are coming,’ declares the Lord, ‘when it will no longer be said, “As surely as the Lord lives, who brought the Israelites up out of Egypt,” but it will be said, “As surely as the Lord lives , who brought the Israelites up out of the land of the north and out of the countries where he had banished them.” For I will restore them to the land I gave to their ancestors.’”
Jeremiah 16:14-15 (NIV)

Scriptures like the one above may apply to a future re-gathering but they may also refer to the present as well.

For so many years Israel had been ‘lost’ among the nations. One of the greatest miracles of history has been the restoration of Israel in its own land beginning in 1948. Since then large numbers of Jews have and are returning to the land from countries all over the world. The Jews have not only survived but have retained their unique identity for 2000 years.

In Jeremiah 32:27 God says he is the God of all mankind. And we read in Acts 15:16-18, “After this I will return and rebuild David’s fallen tent. Its ruins I will rebuild, and I will restore it, that the rest of mankind may seek the Lord, even all the Gentiles who bear my name, says the Lord, who does these things, things known from long ago.”

Jesus was the light of all mankind (John 1:4) and came to seek and save the ‘lost’ (Luke 19:10), not just in Israel, but in all the world.

Prayer
Father, We pray for the leaders of Israel that they may have understanding and wisdom. We pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6) which ultimately will mean peace for the whole world with the return of Jesus as Lord.
Amen
