Undercover Boss

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward.”

“Undercover Boss” is a very popular television programme with an international appeal. It is about the owner or boss of a business disguising himself or herself and acting as an employee of his or her own business. They work alongside employees incognito,and experience firsthand what it is like to be an employee of their own business. They get to know their employees on a personal level, and experience the challenges, successes or failures, and personal problems their employees are dealing with on a daily basis. The emotional side of the programme is when the boss reveals his or her identity to the employees and rewards those who are doing their best for the business in sometimes difficult personal circumstances. It can be a tear-jerker!

In a sense, we have an undercover boss who works beside us, in whatever circumstance we find ourselves. He is invisible to our eyes, but very real. He knows everything about us, warts and all! He knows our strengths and weaknesses. He knows the challenges and temptations that we all face. He knows of our pain and sorrow. He has promised never to leave nor forsake us. (Hebrews 13:5). His name is Jesus. All that he asks of us is to trust him and keep on doing the best that we can, because he is the One who is at work in us, and will, in time, reward us. “Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done” (Revelation 22:12).

Our undercover boss is not interested in us working for him. He wants us to participate with him in his business of salvation!

Thank you, Father, for calling us into fellowship with Jesus, who desires that we participate or share in his amazing work of salvation.
