Lamb Of God
“The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, ‘Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! This is He of whom I said, ‘After me comes a Man who is preferred before me, for He was before me.’”
John 1:29-30 (NKJV)
Has God revealed to you that Jesus is the Lamb of God who died to forgive your sins? John.3:16 tells us, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” He is our Passover Lamb sacrificed on our behalf. (1 Corinthians 5:7). We read in 2 Corinthians 5:21, “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” This was not done in a spur of a moment and it was not a plan B after Adam sinned, but through the foreknowledge of God before the foundation of the world He was crucified. 1 Peter 1:18-20 says, “…knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things…but with precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish…He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you.”
In the Old Testament it was God who ordained Passover to be observed by Israel. Through the blood of the Passover lamb Israel was delivered from the slavery of Egypt and the oppression of Pharaoh, by the mighty hand of God. That was the type of the reality of the perfect Lamb of God, Jesus, whose blood is sprinkled on our hearts. Hebrews 7:27 says, “…who does not need daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the people’s, for this He did once for all when He offered up Himself.” No more animals sacrifices. They were the shadows pointing to Jesus, the Lamb of God. Please read Hebrews 9:11-15, and so let us praise the Lord God Almighty who has through His grace and loving kindness removed our sins as far as east is from the west, washing us in the precious blood of our Saviour, our Redeemer, who liveth.
God has revealed His Son to us as a Lamb of God through His word. Job19:25 says, “For I know that my Redeemer lives “and Revelation 5:9 says of the Lamb of God, “You are worthy to take the scroll…for you were slain, and have redeemed us to God by your blood, out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation.”
We are chosen in Him before the world was founded. Read in Ephesians 1:12-13, “that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise His glory…after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation…having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise.” Verse 4 says, “Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love” and verse 7 tells us, “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.”
Can we say with Apostle Paul that we are crucified with Jesus, the Lamb of God, sacrificed for us? (Galatians 2:20)
Father in heaven, I thank You for the great sacrifice you prepared before the foundation of the world for fallen humanity. Through the Lamb, our Saviour, I praise you and love you with all my heart.
