Father’s Love For His Children

“Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.”
1 John 3:1-2 (NKJV)

Who am I to write about the love of the Father for us? It is too glorious, and so amazing to contemplate. It is my humble effort. Nearly six years ago we were in India in our village home. A man with his wife and children came to visit us. We thought they were our distant relatives because we could not recognize them. We invited them in and offered refreshments. In our conversation it turned out that they were closely related spiritually in Christ Jesus. There was an immediate bond. He was a pastor of a village church nearby where brethren from several villages came to worship God. He was there because he had heard about us. After hugs and kisses they departed asking me to speak to his congregation. I obliged. It was a miracle. Now every time we go to India, I have preached to the brethren in that village church covering many aspect of Biblical truth. Once I spoke on the theme above the Father’s Love. It was well received by them. They were encouraged and enlightened.

I would like to share with you some of the scriptures that enhanced their understanding of God’s love for all mankind:

Jeremiah 31:3 tells us that The Father whom we worship and come to know has loved us with an everlasting love and therefore with loving kindness draws us to worship Him. He knows the thoughts He thinks toward us, thoughts of peace and not of evil, but to give us a future and hope (Jeremiah 29:11). He chose us before the foundation of the world to be holy and without blame before Him in love, according to His good pleasure of His will to be accepted in the Beloved through whose blood we have redemption and forgiveness of sins, as it says in Ephesians 1:3-7.

Everyone who is called by His name (Christian), is created for His glory and was formed by him (Isaiah 43:7). The Father demonstrated His love toward us, in that when we were sinners and enemies of God, He allowed His own Son to be crucified on our behalf reconciling us to Him (Romans 5:8-10 & John 3:16).

One scripture that overwhelms me is found in John 17:23, “I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.” Another scripture that is also as penetrating to my soul is beyond my comprehension. Here it is: “And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: ‘I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people…I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.” (2 Corinthians 6:16 &18) Words fail, they are inadequate to describe that the Eternal God whom heaven of heavens cannot contain, who dwells in an unapproachable light, has chosen to dwell in us who are mere dust. But God Is God. God is Love. His words stand. We love Him because He has loved us first. He knows our frame and loves us more than our physical parents who would give us good gifts. Who can fathom the love of God? Discover the love of God for us by meditating upon these inspired scriptures.

Father in Heaven, thank you for loving us with this holy love. Help us to reciprocate your love by total surrender. I pray, asking in Jesus name.
