For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.
I do not know where to begin. However, let us start with the scripture in Heb.11:6, reminding us of our standing with respect to faith, ‘But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.’ The whole chapter speaks of the faithful men and women who obtained a good testimony through faith, waiting for their reward at the coming of the Lord. Also by faith I am, along with all Christians, longing eagerly for the appearance of the Lord in His glory. This faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (Romans 10:17).
In this, where do I stand? This is very comforting to me because I find in Rom.5:1-2, ‘Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.’ We can all rejoice in the hope of a glorious future which God has purposed for all of us.
There is an unending message of faith we read in the Scriptures, which point us to Jesus, who is the Word of Life. This is the message of hope and faith we have to preach to the world which desperately needs this good news.
May the Lord our Saviour, in whom we trust, increase our faith, that we may be rooted and grounded in Him and share our hope with joy and cheerfulness.
Our faithful Father, we thank you for your grace and peace and mercy showered upon your children. In faith we look forward to the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. You are worthy of glory, honour and praise forever. Amen.
