In the beginning was the Word

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him…
John 1:1-3 (NKJV)

In eternity past, only God existed. We read in Isaiah 57:15: ‘For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “ I dwell in the high and holy place…” ’

The Word, in the beginning, was Jesus who became flesh and dwelt among us, as the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. He was the Lamb of God sacrificed to take away the sin of the world and pay the penalty of death on our behalf; this is the gospel of Jesus. He was also the Light of the world.
Personally, I was ignorant of the truth, spiritually blind to the light. But now the grace of God gives me words of life, and increases my faith by hearing, studying and living in his word. Now I can see the truth that frees me from those falsehoods that held me captive in the past. The world needs the gospel of Jesus, the good news we can share with all people to give them hope.

The Apostle Paul encouraged the brethren in his parting message in Ephesus, saying, “…I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.” (Acts 20:32).

The word of the Lord endures forever. Praise and give thanks to God for preserving the Holy Bible in which His glorious salvation is revealed to us.

Abba Father, thank you for sending Jesus, the Word, full of grace and truth. I am grateful to you for the gift of the Holy Spirit who leads us in truth. I offer my prayer in Jesus’ name, Amen.
