Life’s A Pain…And Then You Die

“Though He slay me, yet I will trust in Him!…”
Job 13:15 (NKJV)

Whenever we hear announcements requesting us to pray for the sick and afflicted and those suffering from pain and injuries, etc., we immediately respond with prayer and supplication to our Father, in Jesus’ name.

This was Job’s response also—as a perfect and upright man, he always felt for and had compassion on his fellow human beings. One day God decided that Job should experience pain, trial and sufferings, even though he hadn’t, directly deserved them! Job’s response was faultless—at first; but as time went on and the intensity of his suffering increased, cracks began to appear in his attitude!

“[I do it because, though He slay me, yet will I wait for and trust Him and] behold, He will slay me; I have no hope—nevertheless, I will maintain and argue my ways before Him and even to His face!” is how it reads in the Amplified version of Job 13:15. Job did not understand why he had to experience such pain, and was ready to confront God with ‘righteous’ indignation! God’s response was to show Job just how insignificant and mortal he was—and how awesome and merciful He was!

When I recently went through injury and severe pain, it taught me that my life is totally in God’s hands—that He alone has control over my life, and that I should totally trust in Him, and be patient in suffering, waiting for healing.

God our Saviour knows what pain is—He suffered unbelievable pain in His final hours, but He did it for us! To experience the same pain (and more) that we experience, and to heal us through His stripes!

Yes, life’s a pain but then we die…and then…“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain…” (Revelation 21:4 NIV).

Prayer
Father, please take away our sorrow and crying and pain. In Jesus name.
