Heavenly Clothing

“For all of you who were baptised into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.”
Galatians 3:27 (NIV)

When our daughter was at Junior school she startled us one evening by telling us that her R.E. teacher told the class that members of the Salvation Army sleep in their uniforms! This puzzled us, so we sought out the R.E. teacher at the next Parents Evening to ask what he meant by this. He told us that he was trying to get across that members of the Salvation Army wear their faith 24/7. They were not one day a week Christians.

It was a great accolade for the Salvation Army, but ALL Christians are exhorted to “clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 13:14). Our goal should be, when others look at us, they will see Christ, the One with whom we are clothed; in other words, wearing outwardly the One who dwells in us inwardly. Likewise, we should see Christ in other Christians and treat them as we would Him.

A Prayer
Lord, help me to make Your compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, forgiveness and love visible to all I meet
.
Amen
