Offering the sacrifice of praise

With Jesus’ help we will continually offer our sacrifice of praise to God by telling others the glory of his name.
Hebrews 13:15 (TLB)

In Psalm 107, David repeats himself four times (vv. 8,15,21,31) ‘Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!’ (KJV). David’s words praise God’s work, recount the blessings of righteous living, and thank God for deliverance. This Psalm was written to celebrate the Jews’ return from their exile in Babylon, but it can also apply to believers who have been released from the bondage of sin; it reminds us of the importance of praising God.

There is something marvelous that happens to every Christian who lives a life of praise towards God. Praise to God should be constantly on the lips of those whom he has saved.

Praise is when we give recognition to God for what he has done. It is when we express warm approval or admiration of God – just like a rousing applause. Praise is our gift to God. Our praise to God is for what he has done for us by his Son. Praise is a free will gift to God, just because of who he is. Believers are to use words to praise, not just thinking it, but saying it.

O how we need to praise, like in Psalm 107; ‘Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!’

Prayer
Eternal God,, let us praise you at all times. No matter how dark it seems, let our voices be lifted up to you in praise. Even in the most complicated or difficult situations let us give you praise. In Jesus name, Amen.
