How Flexible Are We?

“To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some.”
I Corinthians 9:22 (NIV)

The Apostle Paul wanted to be all things to all men so that he could be the most use.
We should always be asking: ‘Is there a better way of doing this?’

Knowledge apparently doubles about every 5 years – it certainly does in the computer world.

Henry Ford was a great entrepreneur, but seemed to lack certain people-skills. He felt the Model T Ford ended the need for any other car, and when customers asked for a range of colours it is said that he replied ‘You can have any colour you want providing it is black.’ Not surprisingly, that is when his business began to decline.

So how about you and me? When what we do isn’t working, do we blame somebody, do we rationalise so the problem is easier to live with, do we find comfort that others are in the same boat – or do we do something about it?

In a film the actor Jack Nicholson was eating out. He wanted a side order of toast but that was not on the menu. So he ordered chicken salad on toast and asks the waitress to hold both the butter and the chicken salad!

If we are too rigid, we will either break or go bust. Paul had learned to be more flexible as the verse above shows: ‘So that by all possible means I might save some.’

Let’s follow his example.

Please help us to be able and willing to always look for different ways of doing things so we can better serve Your will.
